(NewsNation) — Could the entire UFO phenomenon have been, intentionally, spurred by a decades-long disinformation campaign orchestrated by the Pentagon?

“The amusing thing about this is that the Wall Street Journal article is essentially confirming what we’ve suspected for years,” Coulthart stated during an appearance on “Elizabeth Vargas Reports.” “There are individuals, the gatekeepers guarding the secrets of this legacy UAP program, who have been misleading and deceiving the American public for years.”
A recent report from The Wall Street Journal claims that the U.S. military was aware that UFOs were not of extraterrestrial origin but deliberately perpetuated that myth for decades to shield highly classified programs from public scrutiny and to mislead potential adversaries.
The article raises concerns about whether prominent figures who have come forward in recent times, such as Pentagon whistleblower David Grusch, may have been misled with false information regarding UFOs and clandestine UFO projects.
According to the article, the military tested a highly classified stealth fighter at Area 51 during the Cold War. The Journal reports that a colonel distributed photographs of flying saucers to local businesses to fan the flames of speculation, all as part of a strategy to obscure the true activities happening at Area 51.
“It really doesn’t add up,” Coulthart remarked.
“We’ve known for years that disinformation is employed and that UFOs are frequently used as a cover, but that doesn’t account for the firsthand witnesses who claim to have seen crafts and possess direct knowledge of the program.”
