My top tips for winter travel on the Eurostar are all practical! Book early for the holiday season as Eurostar trips to Christmas markets can prove very popular.  And when you pack for your trip don’t forget to take the right currency so you have no hassle when you get there. Pack for both comfort and winter conditions and oh you might end up buying some lovely Christmas gifts too so do leave space in your suitcase!.

 

Paris

There is so much to see in Paris anytime of the year and it is truly a n at lovers paradise … in winter though even Pasris surpasses itself. The Parisian Christmas markets are as elegant as you might expect and your Instagram photos will have never looked so fine. I’d particularly recommend you include the  Champs-Élysées market. You might also want to put Hôtel de Ville’s festive ice rink on your itinerary for some snuggly and tasty festive fun. It has cozy chalets offering mulled wine, artisanal crafts, and gourmet treats.

Winter in Paris is a delight! You can also stroll through the beautiful Stroll through illuminated streets and visit iconic landmarks like the Eiffel Tower dressed in festive lights.

 Brussels

Brussels Winter Wonders include The Grand Place illuminated with a magical Christmas tree and light show.

 as well as the astonishing Plaisirs d’Hiver market which has over 200 stalls, an ice rink, and a Ferris wheel. definitely one to take the kids too! Belgian Delights include gorgeously lush Belgian chocolates, waffles, and hot chocolate so you know your taste buds will be happy too.

Cologne

Cologne’s World-Famous Markets are a delight and none more so than the Cathedral Christmas Market with its towering Gothic backdrop and the the Harbor Market with it’s unique crafts and maritime charm. Feast on bratwurst, gingerbread, and glühwein and enjoy!

Time: Eurostar to Brussels, then direct connection to Cologne (approx. 4h total).

 

Strasbourg

 You mustn’t miss the traditional Alsatian market dating back to 1570, featuring half-timbered houses adorned with lights. Spectacular!

Access via Eurostar and TGV connections (approx. 4.5h total).

 

Lille

The speediest to get to of all! Lille has a cosy market with local specialties to try!

Just 1h 30m from London.
